HawkCore is WHITEHAWK ICF's proposed structural and building-envelope approach for a Whitehawk Home. It is being developed to coordinate ICF walls, concrete-roof strategy, foundation and slab details, openings, air control, water management, durability, and project-specific engineering as one connected system.

Coordinated From the Ground Up

HawkCore's proposed approach begins at the slab.

We are developing an insulated concrete slab detail, tied into the reinforced walls above, intended to help provide:

  • A more deliberate boundary against termites and burrowing pests
  • A detail intended to help reduce radon and soil-gas entry, where applicable
  • A moisture-managed base that limits reliance on organic materials

This intended continuity — from slab to wall to roof — is central to the HawkCore approach.

Reinforced Concrete (Proposed Whitehawk Standard)

HawkCore is being developed around reinforced concrete from slab to roof, with a reinforcement approach we intend to hold to a higher bar than typical construction.

Under evaluation for the proposed standard on future Whitehawk Homes:

  • Helix® Micro Rebar®

    A manufacturer product distributed throughout the concrete mix, marketed to improve toughness and crack control. Use is evaluated per project.

  • MST-BAR™ GFRP rebar

    A manufacturer product described as corrosion-resistant structural reinforcement. Use is evaluated per project.

We treat durability as a baseline goal for our proposed standard, not a finished guarantee.

Monolith ICF Walls (Under Evaluation)

HawkCore walls are under evaluation for use of Monolith ICF — a polyurethane-insulated concrete form system built with closed-cell polyurethane panels instead of traditional polystyrene. According to the manufacturer, Monolith's product is stronger, safer, and more efficient, with improved fire resistance and moisture/pest resistance. These are manufacturer claims, not independently verified by WHITEHAWK ICF.

Monolith also describes a "7-in-1" integrated wall system combining structure, insulation, vapor barrier, fire barrier, air barrier, sound barrier, and siding/sheetrock-ready surfaces into one assembly, per manufacturer materials.

Why we're evaluating it: fewer separate trade interfaces and, if manufacturer claims hold up under our engineering review, a tighter wall assembly.

Materials Under Evaluation for Long-Term Durability

Products being evaluated for the proposed HawkCore standard include:

  • Hulk composite waterproofing

    A liquid + textile waterproofing system marketed by its manufacturer as a seamless, impact-resistant, pest-deterring membrane. Under evaluation for the proposed standard.

  • Durable exterior finishes

    Exterior coatings under evaluation for resistance to fire, wind-borne debris, and impact, subject to product testing and project-specific selection.

Concrete Roof: Treating the Roof as Structure

Our proposed HawkCore standard calls for a sloped or flat reinforced concrete roof poured over insulated deck systems, depending on the project. The intent is a more continuous concrete envelope that:

  • Is designed to help keep the roof attached to the walls under wind uplift and impact, subject to engineering
  • Adds thermal mass intended to help smooth out temperature swings
  • Is intended to provide a durable base for roofing and, where feasible, solar installations

Triple-Pane, Impact-Rated Windows & Doors (Proposed Standard)

Wall and roof performance depends on openings performing to a similar standard. Our proposed HawkCore standard is being developed to include triple-pane, impact-rated windows and doors, subject to product availability and project budget.

Triple-Pane Insulated Glass (Proposed)

Manufacturer data indicates reduced heat transfer, exterior noise, and pressure-driven air movement compared to typical double-pane windows.

Impact-Rated & Laminated

Engineered products of this type are designed to resist penetration from flying debris during severe wind events, per manufacturer testing.

Solar Control for Texas Sun

Low-E solar-control coatings, where selected, are intended to reduce solar heat gain and filter UV while maintaining daylight.

Airtight Envelope Integration

Openings are intended to be integrated into the air, water, and thermal control layers through continuous air-sealing and water-managed detailing.

Material Stewardship

HawkCore is being developed around long-life concrete systems. Where available and appropriate, we are evaluating Solid Carbon™ concrete technology, a manufacturer process that mineralizes carbon within the concrete itself. This is a manufacturer claim under evaluation, not a verified WHITEHAWK ICF standard for every project.

Final assemblies and performance depend on the site, soil, climate, architecture, project-specific engineering, jurisdiction, code, manufacturer requirements, product selection, workmanship, inspection, and maintenance.
